Question by Cheryl A: Are you supposed to snore with a cpap mask on?
Had a relative stay the week end, age same as me 54, only a much bigger guy, and in 6′ 2′ 232Pd’s, i use a cpap also, but this guy snored like a Harley, i could here it all the way up the star-rs, when i went down to check on him, i noticed he did have his cpap mask on, i was shocked. Is it normal to snore when the cpap machine is on and mask in place? or does he need a new mask, and more pressure on his machine? Thanks.

It is not normal to snore with a CPAP machine on. He may need to have his mask refitted. I would not “turn up the pressure” as this could lead to a bleb… which in turn when ruptured can cause a pneumothorax… (collapsed lung with free air in the thoracic cavity).
Hope this helps.
