How to get her to keep the CPAP mask on during the night?

Question by Apocalypse Cow: How to get her to keep the CPAP mask on during the night?
I don’t think DW has slept with the mask on thru the night more than 10 times in the last FOUR years.
She has tried a medium nasal mask, small nasal mask, nasal pillows, and now a small face mask for sleep apnea. The cpap includes a humidifier.
No, she doesn’t complain about it drying her out. Esp. with the humidifier.
She says it is comfortable, not too tight, not too loose, the pressure is fine, she can breathe out fine.
Since everything physical has been ruled out, it must be a psychological problem (of which she has several). Sometimes she says it makes her feel “claustrophobic”, lately she says she just can’t sleep with it on.
(Lv2bWet posted *an* answer yesterday but not an answer to my question. In fact, you asked what the question was. So I deleted and rephrased the question).

get her tonsils taken out… thats what i did.. only takes a couple hours, and the recovery is simple. its just like a sore throat for a few days, a week tops. and you get to live off popsicles!

let her fall asleep first and then put it on her gently for a few nights until she gets used to it

Here are five steps to help eliminate claustrophobia and anxiety when you use a CPAP mask:
1. Wear the mask at home while awake for one hour each day.
2. Attach the mask to the CPAP device, and switch the unit “on”. Practice breathing through the mask for one hour while watching TV, reading or performing some other sedentary activity.
3. Use the CPAP during scheduled one hour naps at home.
4. Use CPAP during initial 3-4 hours of nocturnal sleep.
5. Use CPAP through an entire night of sleep.
Remember to advance by one step after each five days, once the step can be carried out without anxiety.
